Weekly Wellness Tips – Blood Donation

Looking for a natural way to alleviate pain and improve mobility? Chiropractic care may be just what you need. By realigning the body’s musculoskeletal system, licensed specialists can help the body heal itself from injuries.

But chiropractic care isn’t just for injuries – it can also relieve sore muscles, bones, and connective tissue for people of all ages. Plus, it offers a range of benefits, from reducing pain and inflammation to improving posture and athletic performance. Talk to your primary care physician to see if chiropractic care is right for you.

Save Lives with Safe Blood Donation: Tips for Donors

January is National Blood Donor Month, a perfect time to help others by donating blood. Follow these steps to ensure a safe and successful donation experience.

Before Your Donation:

  • Eat iron-rich foods like spinach, red meat and raisins to maintain a healthy iron level in your diet.
  • Get a good night’s sleep.
  • Drink extra fluids to hydrate yourself and eat a healthy meal.
  • Avoid fatty foods like hamburgers and fries as they may impact blood testing.
  • Wear comfortable clothing with sleeves that are easy to roll up.
  • Schedule your appointment in advance with The American Red Cross.

After Your Donation:

  • Drink plenty of fluids to replenish the fluids you’ve lost.
  • Avoid strenuous physical activity and heavy lifting.
  • Lie down if you feel lightheaded, and elevate your feet.
  • Apply pressure to the site if bleeding occurs after removing the bandage.
  • Apply a cold pack if bruising occurs under the skin.
  • Contact the American Red Cross if anything feels unusual or concerning.

By donating blood, you may save up to three lives. Be proud of your contribution and keep donating blood to help those in need.
