“According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of workers aged 65 or older has grown by 117% in a span of 20 years, while employment of individuals 75 years or older has likewise increased by 117%.” – cdc.gov

The workforce is aging. Employees are choosing to stay in the workforce for a variety of reasons: financial gains; staying mentally sharp, wanting to stay in the workforce, and more.  Statistics also note that while older workers typically file fewer claims, the claims are usually more serious, therefore more costly.  With this shift in employees working longer, employers need to be aware of accommodations or transitioning to help the aging workers. We will discuss the aging process as it relates to the work environment: sight, balance, hearing, reaction time, strength. We will provide ideas and tips for consideration to implement at your facility.
