Weekly Wellness Tips – Body Image

Looking for a natural way to alleviate pain and improve mobility? Chiropractic care may be just what you need. By realigning the body’s musculoskeletal system, licensed specialists can help the body heal itself from injuries.

But chiropractic care isn’t just for injuries – it can also relieve sore muscles, bones, and connective tissue for people of all ages. Plus, it offers a range of benefits, from reducing pain and inflammation to improving posture and athletic performance. Talk to your primary care physician to see if chiropractic care is right for you.

Body Image: Your Perception of Yourself

Your body image is how you perceive yourself when you look in the mirror or envision yourself in your mind. It encompasses your beliefs about your appearance, how you feel about your body, and your experience within your body. Unfortunately, we often hold onto negative messages about our bodies from a young age due to media or comments from family and friends. Developing a healthy body image is essential for mental wellbeing and can help prevent eating disorders.

Changing how you see yourself takes time and effort, but here are some suggestions to get you started:

Focus on all that your body can do, such as running, dancing, breathing, laughing, and dreaming.

  • Create a list of things you like about yourself that are unrelated to your looks and read it often.
  • Remember that true beauty is not skin-deep and comes from within.
  • Surround yourself with supportive people who recognize the importance of self-acceptance.
  • Overpower negative self-talk with positive thoughts.
  • Wear clothes that make you feel comfortable and good about your body.
  • Manage your social media feeds and avoid images or attitudes that make you feel bad about yourself.

By taking these steps, you can improve your body image and boost your mental wellbeing. Remember that you are beautiful just the way you are.
